March 18, 2010 - Col David Madden

Col David W. Madden is Commander, Global Positioning Systems (GPS) Wing, Space and Missile Systems Center, Air Force Space Command, Los Angeles Air Force Base, California. He is responsible for a multiservice, multinational systems wing which conducts development, acquisition, fielding and sustainment of all GPS space segment, satellite command and control (ground) segment, and GPS military user equipment. The $32B GPS program, with a $1B annual budget, maintains the largest satellite constellation, the largest avionics integration and installation program in the Department of Defense.

Colonel Charles H. Cynamon is the Commander for the MILSATCOM Advanced Concepts Group, Military Satellite Communications System Wing, Space and Missile Systems Center, Los Angeles Air Force Base, California. He is responsible for the advanced technology insertion for the Advanced EHF and Wideband Global SATCOM systems as well planning the DoD’s next generation satellite communications architecture.

Come and join us for lunch and an interesting and informative presentation at the Proud Bird.
Col Cynamon will discuss the role of the MILSATCOM Advanced Concepts Group in defining and developing post-TSAT era satellite communications capabilities.

There will be a brief question and answer period after the presentation.

Ms Joy White, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is the Director of Contracting, Space and Missile Systems Center, Los Angeles Air Force Base, California. In this capacity, Ms White advises the Program Executive Officer for Space Programs on acquisition strategy, contract execution, and contracting policy/procedures. Ms White is responsible for over 600 contracts valued at $60 billion and the career development and training for over 250 military and civilian contracting professionals.

Colonel Michael D. Sarchet is the Commander, Protected Satellite Communications Group, Military Satellite Communications (MILSATCOM) Systems Wing, Space and Missile Systems Center, Los Angeles Air Force Base, CA. He is the Deputy Program Manager for the $9.8B Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) space program. The AEHF system will provide secure, survivable, jam-resistant communications service for the National Command Authority and Combatant Commanders to command and control strategic and tactical forces in all levels of conflict including nuclear war. AEHF will be the protected backbone of DoD’s MILSATCOM architecture. Colonel Sarchet also oversees sustainment of the Milstar constellation, which consists of five satellites in geosynchronous orbits.
